  • Who is the team behind Pinays Rising Scholarship? Why are you doing this?

    • Dr. Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales and rapper/spoken word artist, Ruby Ibarra created this project in 2018. We are doing this because we believe that POC youth, particularly those that come from immigrant households, do not often have the resources to obtain their goals. We believe that higher education is about more than academic and jobs, but a tool that can be used to help and impact our communities. We are both Pinays who firmly believe that young Pinays deserve to be in these academic spaces and deserve to have a platform to express themselves through art and/or activism. This year we're excited to bring on to the team Olivia Malabuyo Tablante and Paloma B. Concordia to help us grow this program and award more scholarships.
